The Rookie's Season 5 finale is setting up a deadly game of cat and mouse.
Per TVLine, the synopsis for Season 5, Episode 22 "Under Siege," suggests that a deadly conclusion could await Nathan Fillion's John Nolan and his squad. "After one of their own is shot, the team suffers a series of close calls and realizes their division may be a target for a group of masked assailants," reads the official description. The nature of these attackers remains unknown, as does their motivation. The Season 5 finale will air on ABC on May 2.

Over the course of its five seasons, The Rookie has proven to be a resounding success for ABC, earning a passionate and dedicated fanbase. The story follows John Nolan, a 45-year-old construction worker that closes his company and enrolls in the Los Angeles Police Department, going on to be the oldest rookie on the force. Beyond Fillion, the show also stars Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez, Richard T. Jones as Wade Grey, Melissa O'Neil as Lucy Chen and Eric Winter as Tim Bradford.

While The Rookie Season 5 may be coming to an end soon, fans won't need to wait too long to pick up the story again. Season 6 will return in 2023, spurred on boosted ratings after moving to ABC's coveted Tuesday night slot, jumping a whopping 31% in same-day audience numbers and a 40% increase in overall viewers in comparison to its original Sunday night air date.
