The Rookie Season 6 Will Have Mini DCEU Reunion For Nathan Fillion

The Rookie season 6 is set to feature one of Nathan Fillion's co-stars from The Suicide Squad in a forthcoming two-part episode. The ABC police procedural follows John Nolan (Fillion), who becomes a rookie cop with the LAPD at the age of 45. As the show chronicled him gaining experience as a police officer, it has garnered multiple notable guest stars throughout its run.

According to TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich, David Dastmalchian is set to star in a two-part episode of The Rookie season 6. He and Fillion both appeared in 2021's The Suicide Squad, though Dastmalchian played a larger role in the movie as Polka-Dot Man. Either way, showrunner Alexi Hawley has expressed excitement at the film star becoming part of the drama show.

Dastmalchian isn't the only former co-star of Fillion's to make an appearance during his police series. Actors from Firefly and Castle, two series he starred in throughout his career, have made their way onto The Rookie throughout its run. Notable guests include Alan Tudyk as a crime scene cleaner, Tamala Jones as officer Aaron Thorsen's mother, and Seamus Dever as a drug purchaser.

Beyond those directly associated with Fillion, The Rookie's other notable guest stars have appeared in various roles throughout its seasons. Some of these guests played themselves, such as Mario Lopez being stopped for a traffic violation and Will.i.am, whose silent alarm went off in his house. Other actors played unique roles beyond regular cameos, like Pete Davidson as Nolan's half-brother (also named Pete) and Joel McHale as a border patrol agent turned human trafficker.

Given the versatility of The Rookie's guest appearances, Dastmalchian could be portraying anyone from a major criminal to a fellow police officer. Since he'll be around for two episodes in a row, whatever crime the LAPD has to deal with will heavily involve his presence. More is likely to be revealed as the undated crossover approaches.
