Tony Goldwyn shared on Thursday that he would be taking Sam's place.

The caption was accompanied by a screenshot from the Deadline article announcing Tony's role.
Tony, 63, voiced Tarzan in the Disney animated film and played Carl Bruner in the thriller film, Ghost, among many other films.
The actor is no stranger to the Law & Order franchise.

He was also most recently in Oppenheimer.
Tony will play a new character – District Attorney Nicholas Baxter – on Law & Order, after Frank was killed off in the spinoff.

DONE DONE
Sam, 83, left Law & Order after 20 seasons.
His last episode was the fifth one of the 20th season on February 22.
Sam has played Manhattan District Attorney Jack McCoy since signing onto Law & Order in 1994, showing up halfway through the fourth season.
At the time of his departure, the veteran actor starred in over 400 episodes of the drama.
Sam recently admitted that leaving the show has been very freeing for him.
In an interview with Today, the actor gave a special thanks to his fans who have been watching him for over 30 years.
Speaking to Today anchors Al Roker and Sheinelle Jones, Sam offered up his thoughts on leaving his iconic role behind.
When asked how it made him feel to be leaving the show after 30 years, he responded with a chipper "fine!"
The host laughed at his remark.
"It does! I knew I was gonna leave when I came back, and it was just a matter of when, and this was a beautiful way to go, I have to say," Sam explained.
Sam said that he is not retiring, but also will not be actively looking for roles.
"I can't tell you how freeing it is," he said, sounding relieved.
"Suddenly, there was space in my head that I didn't even know there was that had been occupied by the job by…forever!"
