SEAL Team’s Jason Hayes’ death sealed as David Boreanaz drops ominous season 7 clue

SEAL Team star David Boreanaz has dropped an ominous hint towards the outcome of the military drama’s last-ever season.

After changing networks from CBS to the streaming platform Paramount+ back in 2021, the series has continued to follow Master Chief Jason Hayes (played by David Boreanaz) and his unit of elite Navy Seals.

Season six concluded almost two years ago with the fate of the team uncertain after Jason disclosed the extent of his traumatic brain injury and how much it’s affected his performance on recent missions.

He was given a dressing down by his superiors, including Eric Blackburn (Judd Lormand) who tells him: “You created one hell of a mess, and left us no choice but to stand you down.”

However, Ray Perry (Neil Brown Jr) has his back, informing everyone he’s been suffering from post-traumatic stress after his kidnapping.

It didn’t take long for the rest of the team – more than two dozen other Navy SEALs – to file in and spill their various mental and physical health issues.

Heading into the next season, lead actor David reveals he knew this would be his final season, even before the series was severely impacted by last year’s Hollywood strikes.

“This for me has been a full circle journey,” he candidly shared.

“Heading into [this] season even before the writers strike, I decided that this was the end for me — that’s something not too many people are aware of.”

David has headed the drama for seven seasons now so, even if SEAL Team did continue, it’s no surprise he’s looking to step back at this stage.

Showrunner Spencer Hudnut clearly believes the show begins and ends with Jason, though, and the star even hinted at a tragic ending for the Master Chief to bring the drama to a close.

When asked if Jason could have a future outside of Bravo, David admitted to TVLine: “I would say [spending time with his children] makes him see a future that maybe he still feels a bit awkward with.

“Because what he thinks is working necessarily may not work. The final hook to this circle for these operators is, ‘How do they deal with their kills?’, how that traumatically impacts them both in the missions as well as when at home.”

Settling in back home could prove equally challenging as his missions in the season premiere as the final outing follows the SEALs trying to readjust back to a normal life.

Unfortunately, he won’t be settled for long as David teases a devastating outcome to one of Jason’s final postings.

“But ultimately, he may be taken by the biggest force of all, and that’s death,” he said.

“That’s something we have to keep on the table and wanted to keep on the table.

“How he gets back into the battlefield and what happens to him is going to be interesting.”
