As viewers may remember, Jason has had a traumatic brain injury (TBI) since Season 5, and it appears that the terrorist attack in SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 2 has only exacerbated his condition. During the chaotic events in a shopping center, Jason encountered one of the gunmen while pursuing others.
The scene quickly turned into the most heated and unsettling fight of the hour. Jason engaged the terrorist in hand-to-hand combat, which took a gruesome turn when a knife was introduced. Ultimately, David Boreanaz's character, Jason, stabbed the gunman in the neck, causing him to bleed to death.
The harrowing experience left Jason visibly shaken, almost paralyzed with shock when another terrorist arrived and was about to kill Bravo's leader. Fortunately, Drew stepped in just in time to protect Jason, shooting the attacker and essentially saving Jason's life.
Upon returning to the United States, Jason experienced a night terror, an indication that he was still deeply affected by the events in Sweden. His previous wound, which was never fully healed, had been reopened by the incident. By the conclusion of the episode, Jason confided in Mandy about his concerns regarding his mental health. He feared that his progress could be reversed if he underwent surgery.
Sadly, Mandy's response was a mere grin and reassurances, ignoring the evident gravity of Jason's condition. This leaves Jason grappling with an untreated problem and potentially in serious danger in the upcoming episodes of SEAL Team Season 7.
Despite their heroic actions in Sweden, Bravo Team has only been authorized for short duty in Season 7. Jason and his men believed they would get some respite and return home early, but that hope was dashed. Command criticized them for compromising their presence by running directly into danger, contrary to what the responding police officers were doing by holding back.
This lack of acknowledgment from their superiors highlighted the complex dynamic and often thankless nature of their service. Nevertheless, Jason, Ray, Sonny, Omar, and Brock would always choose to serve others, reflecting their unwavering commitment.
A new element introduced in Season 7 is the mystery surrounding Drew. By the end of Episode 2, it’s clear that Drew’s stress is connected to his family. His sister Norah’s appearance revealed that a reporter is investigating the Franklin family and producing a podcast about them.
When Drew expressed his disinterest in helping with the situation, Norah seemed to threaten him, implying that their father's reputation—and possibly Drew’s—was at stake. Drew hinted at deeply buried family secrets, comparing their notoriety to that of the Hilton family. These secrets are anticipated to unfold gradually, likely becoming a critical plotline by the season finale, affecting both the public's perception and the Bravo team’s dynamics.
