In episode 2, Chaos in the Calm Part Two, the protagonists of the SEAL Team put in a great deal of effort to prevent terrorists from attacking civilians in a mall. Following the thrilling first part of season 7, they eventually succeeded, but the cost was high. Blood was spilled, lives were lost, and Bravo One is still far from returning to active service.
The episode's heroes were Jason Hayes and his squad, played by David Boreanaz. However, most of the guys are experiencing mental health issues, which will likely affect the remainder of the Paramount Plus military drama's last season. At the start of SEAL Team Season 7, Episode 2, Jason, Sonny Quinn, Brock Reynolds, and Drew Franklin entered the mall to locate the active shooters and eliminate the threat. Meanwhile, Ray Perry and Omar Hamso were outside tending to the injured. It was a challenging task to defeat the terrorists without weaponry, but Bravo One proved their mettle by stopping the gunmen.
Many people lost loved ones and perished despite Bravo Team saving the day. Jason's narrative in SEAL Team Season 7 will be affected by his encounter with one of the terrorists. As viewers will remember, Jason has had a traumatic brain injury since Season 5, and the terrorist attack in Episode 2 has only worsened his condition. Jason encountered one of the gunmen while pursuing the others in the shopping center. The fight between them was the most heated and unsettling of the hour. They engaged in hand-to-hand combat, which turned graphic when a knife was involved. Jason eventually killed the terrorist by stabbing him in the neck, causing him to bleed to death.
This act had a significant impact on Jason, rendering him nearly immobile when another terrorist arrived, poised to kill Bravo's leader. Fortunately, Drew was there to protect Jason by shooting the attacker. Jason experienced a night terror after returning to the United States, still affected by the events in Sweden. His previous wound, which had never fully healed, reopened, adding to his troubles. By the end of the hour, Jason confided in Mandy about his fears that his progress in mental health might be reversed if he underwent surgery. Sadly, Mandy only grinned and pretended that everything would be alright, though it clearly was not. Jason is dealing with an untreated issue and might face severe risk as the season progresses.
Bravo One has not been certified for anything other than shore duty despite their valiant actions in Sweden. Following the terrorist attack, Jason and his men left early, hoping their efforts would grant them some respite. Unfortunately, they did not gain any favor at home. The command felt that Bravo Team compromised their presence by actively engaging in the confrontation instead of waiting like the responding police officers. Despite being one of the season's significant changes, Drew remains a mystery, but it became evident that some of his stress related to his family when his sister Nora appeared.
Nora mentioned a reporter was researching the Franklin family and producing a podcast, and when Drew refused to help, she seemed to threaten him, implying that his reputation could be at stake. Drew's family appears to have some dark secrets he is unwilling to discuss, hinting that the viewers and Bravo Team will uncover these secrets by the season's end.
Stella and Sonny were meant to attend Ben's sentencing hearing together, but Stella had to post bail at the last minute. Initially, Sonny had no intention of going to court alone but felt compelled to speak on Ben's behalf. He argued that Ben would not be held accountable by Clay for his passing, requesting the court to give Ben a second chance despite the tragic nature of Clay's death.
The writers have ensured that Clay's memory lives on in the program through Ben's storyline. Sonny felt it necessary to present Ben's case, knowing that Clay would want Ben to have another shot. It is uncertain how Ben's sentencing will turn out, but he may appear in more episodes. While Sonny worried about Ben's hearing, Lisa Davis discovered more concerns regarding AJ Buckley's character.
Sunny had punched Colonel Decker after realizing he caused the botched operation in Mali. Decker's mistake of not switching communication channels led Sunny to pursue and strike him, knowing he would face severe consequences if the truth emerged. The season hints at this storyline's progression as Lisa learns about the Army CID's investigation to find Decker's attacker. Sunny's career is in jeopardy, and Lisa will likely attempt to help cover up the incident. However, Sunny will have to face the repercussions sooner rather than later.
