Captain Olivia Benson, we're so ready for you to return to our TV screens!
Law and Order: SVU season 26 is set to premiere on October 3 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC, and amid fans' anticipation, the network decided to gift folks with a fun sneak peek at filming the upcoming installment.
The show posted a video on Instagram on July 22, featuring Mariska Hargitay (who plays Captain Benson) and Peter Scanavino (who plays ADA Sonny Carisi) dressed in their characters' costumes. In between shooting scenes for SVU, they pretended to time jump from filming season 25 in April to now. What's more, the show's social team played up the fun video challenge with a creative call out in the caption.
"Next stop: #SVU Season 26! 🏃," the post read. "Jump into the epic return Thursday, October 3 on @NBC."
When folks saw SVU upload a lightearted behind-the-scenes moment with Mariska and Peter, they couldn't stop raving about how much they loved it.
"If this isn't squad goals idk what is 😍," one person wrote in the comments. "SVU squad is guilty of serving serious dun duns," another declared. "They're my favorite duo!!! I love me some Benson and Carisi/Hargitay and Scanavino! ❤️🥰," a different follower excitedly added.
Well, it looks like we know Benson and Carisi's friendship is solid at the moment! But it appears that the cast of Law and Order: SVU is also getting slightly bigger as we get closer to the season premiere.
According to a report from Deadline on July 23, folks will see recurring star Kevin Kane be upped to a series regular as Detective Terry Bruno in Law and Order: SVU season 26. Additionally, Griselda star Juliana Aidén Martinez will make her SVU debut to play a currently unnamed new detective.
The show can't come back soon enough!
