Jeremy Sisto Talks The Possibility Of An FBI & International Crossover

FBI star Jeremy Sisto discussed the possibility of a future crossover between the crime drama and its spin-off series, FBI: International. Sisto stars as FBI Assistant Special Agent-In-Charge Jubal Valentine in the CBS series. The series was created by Law & Order's Dick Wolf, with its fourth season premiering in September 2021.

Following the New York office criminal divisions of the FBI, Wolf's crime drama follows Missy Peregrym's Special Agent Maggie Bell as she and her unit use their training, skills, and talents to solve major criminal cases. Together with her junior partner Omar Adom "O.A." Zidan (Zeeko Zaki), Valentine, Kristen Chazal (Ebonée Noel), Ellen Solberg (Connie Nielsen), Dana Mosier (Sela Ward), Isobel Castille (Alana de la Garza), Stuart Scola (John Boyd), and Tiffany Wallace (Katherine Renee Turner), the team has solved cases for 4 seasons following its premiere in September 2018. Wolf's CBS series has been followed by two spin-offs, FBI: Most Wanted in 2020, and FBI: International in 2021, and one of the original series stars has talked about his hopes for a future crossover with the latter show.

Speaking to TV Insider, Sisto touched upon the possibility of a crossover, as well as what he'd hope such a story would explore. After the series premiere, which was part of a larger crossover story between FBI and FBI: Most Wanted, hinted at the history between Valentine and Luke Kleintank's FBI Supervisory Special Agent Scott Forrester, Sisto would like to see the pair work together. Despite the interest, Sisto admitted the distance between filming locations may prove the crossover difficult to produce, but then stated how he enjoyed working in an interconnected franchise and highlighting the importance of crossovers with the original show.

“If I had to go to war and could only pick two agents to go shoulder-to-shoulder with, he’d be one of them…

They shoot so damn far away. I don’t think it’s in the cards. I like that we have a relationship, that there’s some kind of connection there. It’s a great show and whatever Dick feels about that — it’s fun being in a TV universe where you kind of trust the person at the top because I don’t have to decide if that’s right. But I like that they’ve opened that door, and I think it’s important that you connect these shows to the main office.”

Ordered to series in 2021, FBI: International expands the series from its U.S setting to follow a new unit of FBI International Fly Team operatives based out of Prague as they are tasked with tackling threats against America on a global scale. Kleintank's Scott Forrester serves as the team's veteran hard-as-nails FBI agent who leads the unit as they tackle cases, with the members of the agency having to contend and work alongside other agencies such as Europol. The series was launched as part of a crossover between the premieres for season 4 of FBI and season 3 of FBI: Most Wanted, which sees the New York-based team of the original series call upon the protagonists of International in tackling human and arms traffickers when their case has global ramifications.

Sisto has previously discussed Wolf's interconnected series, joking about how he'd like to play multiple roles in an FBI and Law & Order crossover. While he admitted production may be difficult, Sisto's feelings towards crossovers are interesting, as more and more franchises aim to establish a widely interconnected world. The world of FBI offers plenty of opportunities for crossover stories involving wide-spanning international cases, and with the three series having already successfully pulled off one crossover, it may be likely Sisto's desire for a future crossover may not be too far out of reach.
