Jensen Ackles’ Tracker Season 2 Role Is Made Even Better By The Promise Of 1 Returning Character

Jensen Ackles' role in Tracker season 2 is made even more exciting by the promise that another season 1 character will be on hand. The Colter Shaw actor has promised some characters will return, and apparently Ackles' Russell Shaw will be among them. The star's chances of appearing in Tracker season 2 seemed slimmer after Ackles has been cast to star in a new show on Prime Video called Countdown. However, it's since been confirmed that despite that, he will be taking on a recurring role in season 2.

In Tracker season 1, Russell was vital to the story. He texted Colter throughout the show's freshman season before eventually appearing in the penultimate episode to plea for the reward-seeker's help. Russell needed to appear because it was believed that he had killed their father, Ashton Shaw. Russell revealed in season 1 that he didn't kill their father and that there was someone else in the woods with them that night. At the end of their stint tracking, Colter seemed to trust his brother, leaving Russell's storyline less vital in season 2 than others.

Justin Hartley has confirmed that his This Is Us co-star, Jennifer Morrison, will return in Tracker season 2. He said Morrison is "definitely coming back" to Tracker to explore more of her character's connection to Colter's past. In the Tracker season 1 finale, Hawking revealed crucial details that Colter was lacking about his family's past. It seemed like what Lizzy Hawking unearthed in the season finale was just the tip of the iceberg of what Colter doesn't know about his family. With Lizzy and Russell on hand, Tracker season 2 is sure to pull back the veil even further on this aspect of the series.

Why Lizzy Hawking Was Crucial In The Tracker Season 1 Finale

Lizzy Hawking was integral to the Tracker season 1 finale. She reunited with Colter when her daughter, Katie, went missing at sea. She requested his help to track her down. When Colter eventually found Katie and returned her to her mother, the childhood friends sat down over coffee. Lizzy brought up their shared past in their casual conversation, which shook the reward-seeker to his core. Lizzy revealed that her mother was having an affair with Colter's father. She also revealed that Ashton visited their home right before his death, leaving a box of documents with her mom.

After a season of the people closest to Colter trying to keep things from him, Lizzy's role in Tracker season 1 was crucial to moving the case of Ashton Shaw's death forward. She's one of the most essential characters heading into season 2, with Justin Hartley's comments signaling that Lizzy will remain paramount to the narrative. There's a chance that Hartley always knew that Jensen Ackles might not return to the show, so resolving their trust issues in the show's first season was wise. The character who needs to return more than anyone else in Tracker season 2 is Lizzy Hawking.
