“I Don’t Think You Are Making The Right Choice”: Shemar Moore Reflects On CBS Cancelling SWAT Again In A Video

Shemar Moore has released a video reflecting on CBS cancelling S.W.A.T. again, explaining why he believes the network isn't making "the right choice." S.W.A.T. season 8 was revealed to be the last season of the action drama, as CBS has cancelled the show for a third time across its history. The series was first axed after season 6, with the decision getting reversed to offer it final episodes in the form of season 7. However, this decision was reversed with season 8, which is now expected to be the true final season of the show.

Taking to Instagram, Moore reflected on S.W.A.T.'s history after CBS decided to cancel it again. In the casual video, Moore explains the history of the show getting uncancelled twice in a row, and how he believes CBS isn't "making the right choice" by not renewing it for season 9. But he's proud of the work put into the series and its success. He's also thankful for CBS for the opportunities he's been given on shows like The Young and the Restless and Criminal Minds, even though he hopes they'll change their minds. Check out Moore's video below:

What Moore's Video Says About The History Of S.W.A.T. Cancellations

He's Still Proud Of Everything The Series Accomplished

  • Shemar Moore as Hondo wearing a black jacket and smiling in SWAT season 7
  • Tan and Deacon in uniform with their guns drawn inside a house in the SWAT episode Invisible
  • Shemar Moore looking sad as Hondo in SWAT season 7
  • David Lim as Tan looking intensely while in his gear in S.W.A.T.
  • Shemar Moore smiling as Hondo in a scene from SWAT

CBS' latest cancellation of the series means S.W.A.T. season 9 probably isn't happening. While the show's viewership had been reaching heights of 5.7 million live viewers in season 6 when it was first saved, the series is now earning around 3.4 million viewers in recent weeks. This dip is natural for network TV shows as they go on, but isn't as strong as other multi-season CBS series like FBI or Fire Country. The show's lifespan appears to be coming to a natural end, instead of being prematurely cancelled like it was in previous seasons.

However, Moore's words still emphasize the amount of time and effort that went into making the show, alongside hopes the network will see its longevity and reverse their decision. Season 7 was originally supposed to give the characters in S.W.A.T. a fitting conclusion, but season 8 ending so soon means something like that might not be in the cards. It's ultimately a reverse of the show's original plan to end on a high note, as it's now back in the same position it was during season 6 when it was first axed by the network.

Our Take On Moore's Video About S.W.A.T. Getting Cancelled

There Might Still Be Hope For The Action Drama

S.W.A.T. season 8 might not end with a satisfying conclusion now that that show's been cancelled, but it could potentially be saved for one last mission the team can embark upon together. Whether this is in the form of season 9 or even a TV movie, a series that's been cancelled three times deserves to have its efforts rewarded with a definitive conclusion. Moore's video is a testament to the work put into the show, and the importance of recognizing its history on CBS.

New episodes of S.W.A.T. season 8 air Fridays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
