‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Cast Changes Amid Mid-Season Finale Revealed: 3 Actors Left the Show, But Multiple Stars Recently Joined!

Midori Francis – EXITED THE SHOW ON NOVEMBER 21, 2024

Midori Francis joined the cast of the ABC medical drama series in season 19 as Mika Yasuda, one of the new interns. She has been a series regular for the past two seasons, but wrapped her storyline in season 21.

The reason behind Midori‘s exit is that she’s hoping to figure out the next step of her career, which is part of the reason she signed with the talent agency WME this year. Her departure is an “amicable decision.”

Jake Borelli – EXITED THE SHOW ON NOVEMBER 14, 2024

Jake Borelli joined the cast of the ABC medical drama series in season 14 as Levi Schmitt, making history as the show’s first openly gay male character.

Jake returned for season 21 for just a limited amount of episodes to tie up his storyline before leaving the show.

Michael Thomas Grant – JOINED CAST IN SEASON 21, SEEMINGLY EXITED ON NOVEMBER 14, 2024

Michael Thomas Grant, best known for his work on the NBC musical series Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, joined the cast as a new gay male character.

TVLine broke the news about the cast addition, noting that the character, James, is an openly gay Episcopal chaplain who is headed to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

Here’s a bit about his character: “He holds a special place in his heart for his younger patients, and his warmth, training and spirituality make him comfortable and confident in any situation. In his personal life, James finds himself at a crossroads where he is open to love and taking great leaps of faith.”

James became a new love interest for Schmitt and he moved away with him in the November 14 episode.
