‘Fire Country’ Fans, You Have to See What the Show Is Doing for the First Time Ever

This story contains light spoilers from Fire Country season 3.

We're just one week away from wrapping up Fire Country season 3, and let's be honest: we want to know more about what's happening with our favorite firefighters at Cal Fire and Three Rock! Well, Max Thieirot (who plays Bode Leone and is a co-creator and executive producer on the show) is giving us a sneak peek at … and it includes something the TV show has never done before.

Ever since the CBS drama premiered in October 2022, the season finales have consisted of one hour-long episodes. Well, as Max shared with Us Weekly, the final episode of Fire Country season 3 will be different than its predecessors. As it turns out, fans have a two-hour long finale to look forward to, and it will air on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. What's more, it looks like there is going to be quite a lot of danger and drama attached to the big installment.

"The two-hour finale this year is pretty special," he teased in a clip posted on Instagram on April 8. "Not only did we get to arc out that one big block of TV for one night and have this story in this episode outside of the long-arcing episode of the season, we have some crazy awesome action stuff. Season 3 is where we … we definitely end with a boom."

But that's not all Max had to say on the subject.

When Max stopped by Good Housekeeping in early April to promote the end of Fire Country season 3, he had to drop an exciting clue about having a bigger hand in the finale than just acting.

"I direct the first hour of the the first part of the season finale, and we did some really incredible, kind of crazy action stunt sequences that I was really excited to film," he told us at the time. "It's a really exciting episode, and we sort of tie up a lot of the storylines we've been invested in as fans this season, and it wouldn't be Fire Country if there wasn't 1) some epic big fire, and 2) a pretty intense cliffhanger to bring us into season 4."

Well, consider us completely intrigued! Given how we know Cal Fire and Three Rock are in the midst of a battle with Oxalta over poisoned water trickling into the area, we're pretty sure we'll get to see the aftermath of that as well. But as far as the characters' futures on the show (like Jake [Jordan Calloway] looking for a new firefighting job or Gabriela Perez [Stephanie Arcila] being single after embarking on a new romance) … well we'll just have to listen to Max and tune in for this one!

Needless to say, we've already marked our calendars for next week.
