The chances of Colter Shaw and Reenie Greene becoming a couple in Tracker season 2 are addressed by Justin Hartley. Just a few years after the end of his stint as Kevin Pearson in NBC's hit family drama, This Is Us, the actor successfully made his return to network TV with his very own series. Based on Jeffery Deaver's 2019 novel, The Never Game, Hartley plays self-proclaimed rewardist, Colter. Hartley is joined by a solid supporting ensemble in the Tracker cast, including Fiona Rene as Reenie.
San Diego Comic-Con (via People) hosted its very first Tracker panel attended by Hartley and his show co-collaborators where they shared new information about what to expect from season 2. When asked about the possibility of Colter and Reenie being together, the procedural's lead star squashes hopes about the matter, citing how complicated it would be for his character to be in a committed relationship. Read Hartley's full quote below:
I think all of the things about him that are heroic and brave become reckless and selfish. It's like, I'm going to leave my house and go through all this stuff and put myself in danger and you're back here worried about me. I just don't think that's a good look.
Should Colter & Reenie Get Together In Tracker Season 2?
Hartley & Rene Have Great Chemistry
Reenie is one of Colter's allies in Tracker. As a lawyer, she tends to help him with legal matters. Unofficially, she's a member of his team with Bobby Exley, Teddy, and Velma Bruin. She was Colter's on-the-ground support for many of his cases in season 1. In some instances, however, it was Reenie who needed help from him. Considering everything she had done for him, he was more than happy to be of assistance. Reenie and Colter's relationship was close enough for Jensen Ackles' Russell to reach out to her when his brother didn't respond to his calls.
There's some subtle tension between Reenie and Colter. They are great as professional partners, but are also quite flirtatious with each other in Tracker season 1. Because of this, viewers have started to wonder about the possibility that they could eventually be an item. Despite their chemistry, it's difficult not to consider how this would impact the story moving forward. As Hartley pointed out, Colter isn't primed to be in a committed relationship. It could ruin the dynamic that he and Reenie have, which has been fun to watch and it would be devastating for their relationship to eventually fail.
So, while the chances of Colter and Reenie getting together in Tracker season 2 are very slim, it doesn't mean that the show can't tap into their chemistry. The show can subject them to the popular will-they/won't-they dynamic, which can play out for multiple seasons. Going down this route can maintain the tension between the pair without committing to any long-term storyline.
