Big Brother 26’s Quinn Martin Faces Major Backlash After His Villain Act Falls Flat

Big Brother 26’s Quinn Martin is facing major backlash after trying to play the villain in Tucker Des Lauriers eviction created an edit that fell flat for Big Brother fans. Quinn, one of the 16 houseguests who entered the Big Brother 26 house in hopes of becoming the winner or the $750,000 grand prize, has had a difficult time in the game. Winning the first competition of the summer, Quinn had the Deepfake HOH power and subsequently saw his game blown up more than once when it was revealed. Now, as HOH, Quinn’s trying to take his power back.

During the most recent episode of Big Brother 26, Quinn won the Head Of Household title for the first time after evicting Tucker, who he had a rivalry with. While Quinn didn’t spearhead Tucker’s eviction like BB’s Chelsie Baham, he felt like it was his victory that his longtime rival had left the house. In the Diary Room, Quinn was loud and obnoxious about the fact that he’d gotten the chance to evict Tucker, all while wearing a skirt belonging to Rubina Bernabe, Tucker’s showmance and Quinn’s one-time ally. Viewers have struggled with Quinn’s perception of himself in the game.

According to Reddit user u/Serendipity6717, “He seems to think he’s a master manipulating super villain, but he really just seems messy.” Others agreed, sharing they feel Quinn has been playing things up to make himself more of a character, rather than relying on his own personality to fall back on. “He’s desperate to be a memorable character,” u/Emperor-Octavian shared, while u/dayatatime1 explained, “He's playing up the character way too much, and it's really disingenuous.”

While Quinn has been working overtime in the Diary Room to be perceived as the villain of Big Brother 26, the way he’s spending time on the series may be a bit counterintuitive in how he wants to be perceived. Quinn’s behavior in the game has seemed messy, especially to BB 26 live feed viewers who have seen him called out by his allies several times but seem to forgive them almost immediately. Quinn’s relationship with Rubina, T’Kor Clottey, and Kimo Apaka has been solidified several times, but after choosing to turn on Tucker, who was their ally, things changed.

While Quinn has been doing his best to move as the villain, snaking his relationships in order to find more power, he hasn’t been building a foundation with trust that anyone will want to bring further into the game. Quinn’s disingenuous nature, both in the Big Brother Diary Room and outside of it in the house, has been off-putting for most of the other houseguests. With so many finding him to be disingenuous, he may not be the villain of the season, but instead, someone that the houseguests simply feel inclined to cut from the game as soon as possible.

With Quinn hoping that he’ll be able to take advantage of the relationships he has in the house to leverage him further into the game, he’s in for a rude awakening when he realizes very few people have his back. As Big Brother 26 continues, the houseguests are about halfway through the summer-long competition, and things have been heating up considerably. Even with Quinn working the villain angle in hopes he gets a memorable edit, his gameplay hasn’t been up to par for most Big Brother fans watching the show, which may hurt the superfan in the future.

Big Brother airs Wednesdays & Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT and Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS.
